An “Umi Washi” is a Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation GV business jet that has been refurbished to Japan Coast Guard (JCG) specifications. With 4.47 million square kilometers of territorial waters and Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) to cover the long flight range of this aircraft provides marine security for our country.

The main mission of the GV “Umi Washi” introduced by JCG is security for the Pacific Region. When there is a person in distress or someone requires rescue, this aircraft can conduct search and rescue with a velocity of Mach 0.85 and a long flight time of 10 hours or more.
Also, we have expanded the range of its activities outside the country by utilizing its long flight range. It has been used as part of international emergency rescue teams to search for lost aircraft, as well as in drills related to escorting and extraditing pirates in the Djibouti Republic and the Seychelles Republic.
